Hildrizhausen ist eine alte Gemeinde. 1255 wurde der Ort als Hilterathusen erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Die Pfarrkirche St. Nicomedes gehört im Kern dem 12. Jahrhundert an. Noch heute ist der Turm der Kirche, wie in vielen Dörfern und Städten, das Wahrzeichen des Ortes.
