Erst seit 1777 ist Oberriexingen von Vaihingen an der Enz aus über eine Brücke zu erreichen. Im alten Teil der Stadt ist die historische Stadtmauer in vielen Teilen erhalten, die Gassen sind winkelig und schmal.
Seit der Fertigstellung des Enzdammes im Jahre 1962 lebt es sich im unteren Bereich der Stadt, der alljährlich vom Hochwasser heimgesucht wurde, trockener.
Oberriexingen hat viel vom Charme vergangener Zeiten bewahrt, ohne dass seine Bürger auf Annehmlichkeiten der Moderne verzichten müssen. Beispiele hierfür sind unter anderem die Einrichtungen zur Freizeitgestaltung: die geräumige Turnhalle, eine Festhalle, ein großer Sportplatz, neue Tennisplätze und ausgebaute Radwege in der näheren Umgebung.
So gilt, wie für so vieles, auch für die Stadt Oberriexingen, die sich trotz Gemeindereform ihre Selbständigkeit erhalten konnte: klein - aber fein.
