Twelve Welcome Centers in Baden-Württemberg

Since 2014, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism has been supporting the establishment of regional Welcome Centers in order to sustainably secure the supply of skilled workers in Baden-Württemberg. As part of the state program “Welcome Center 2019–2025”, the Ministry is currently funding twelve Welcome Centers – eleven regional, cross-industry Welcome Centers and the state-wide Welcome Center Social Economy (for the healthcare industry, nursing and social professions).

Welcoming international professionals to the Stuttgart Region

For the Stuttgart Region – i.e. the state capital Stuttgart and the five surrounding districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr – the support project is now known as the “Welcome Service Region Stuttgart” (WSRS) and is run by the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS). The WSRS was created as a key project of the Skilled Professional Alliance Stuttgart Region. The WRS is a member of this alliance and co-chairs the steering committee.

The WSRS helps international professionals and students to arrive in the Stuttgart Region and supports small and medium-sized companies in the recruitment and integration of foreign professionals. As a competence center for international professionals, the WSRS offers bundled information, events and networking for all target groups on the topic of securing skilled workers from abroad in the Stuttgart Region. Individual advice is available at the Welcome Center Stuttgart and in the districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr.

Joint project Welcome Center Stuttgart

The Welcome Center Stuttgart for all new citizens, international professionals and students as well as their family members is the joint contact point of the City of Stuttgart (Department of Integration) and the WRS with the Welcome Service Region Stuttgart – for Stuttgart and the Stuttgart Region. Half of the Welcome Center is financed by the Capital of Stuttgart and half by the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Tourism Baden-Württemberg.
